Lifelong Brockton residents Terry Jr. and Makhi Boston tragically lost their lives in a vehicle accident on July 18, 2023. Makhi, 18, had recently graduated from Brockton High School, while Terry Jr., 15, was a rising sophomore. Both were dedicated Boxer football players, admired throughout the community for their peer leadership and the infectious, positive energy they brought to their teammates, coaches, and teachers.
To honor their memory and support youth sports, their parents, Zakia and Terry Boston Sr., founded the Boston Brothers Foundation 75, a tribute to the jersey number both boys proudly wore. Mayor Rodrigues’s Chief of Staff, Sydné Marrow, worked closely with the Boston family to secure a lasting local commemoration for these remarkable young men whose short lives had so much impact.
On August 17, the City Council unanimously passed a measure to ceremonially dedicate a portion of Tribou Street, including the boys’ family home at 101 Tribou Street, in their honor. While the street’s legal name will remain unchanged, the Department of Public Works will install commemorative Boston Brothers Way signage along the dedicated route.
