Brockton Fire Department to Host Annual Fire Safety Education Open House Supporting Massachusetts SAFE Program
The Brockton Fire Department will host its annual Fire Safety Education Open House on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station 6, located at 540/560 West Street in Brockton.
The family-friendly event is designed to bring children, parents, caregivers, and community members together for an afternoon of fire safety education, prevention, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. The event also supports the Brockton Fire Department’s ongoing participation in the Massachusetts Student Awareness of Fire Education (SAFE) Program, which promotes fire and life safety education for children and families throughout Massachusetts.
“Fire safety education is one of the most important tools we have in preventing fires and protecting our community,” said Brockton Fire Chief Brian F. Nardelli. “This event gives families an opportunity to learn about fire safety in a setting that is educational, interactive, and fun. We encourage everyone to come out, meet their firefighters, and take part in the activities.”

The Fire Safety Education Open House will offer activities for children and adults of all ages, including:
- Fire safety and prevention activities
- Games and prizes
- Live firefighter demonstrations
- Kids Confidence Course
- Opportunities to meet Brockton firefighters and learn more about fire department operations

12:30 p.m. — Squad A Vehicle Extrication Demonstration

Supporting Fire Safety Education in Brockton
The Brockton Fire Department’s public education efforts extend throughout the year through school programs, community presentations, senior education, youth fire safety initiatives, and participation in the Massachusetts SAFE Program.
The SAFE Program provides Massachusetts fire departments with resources to educate children about fire safety, fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and responsible decision-making. The Brockton Fire Department works with community partners and Brockton Public Schools to provide age-appropriate fire and life safety education to local students.
The annual Fire Safety Education Open House provides an opportunity to bring many of those educational messages together in one community event — while allowing families to interact directly with the firefighters who serve them.
“We want children to see firefighters as people they can trust and turn to for help,” said Brockton Fire Department Public Education Officer Peter M. Reardon. “When we can combine important fire safety lessons with hands-on activities, demonstrations, games and a little fun, those lessons become much more memorable.”
The Brockton Fire Department encourages families throughout Brockton and surrounding communities to attend. The event is free and open to all ages.
