Why Have Discussions about MassHealth?

Federal changes to Medicaid in January 2027 will hit close to home for many Brockton families on MassHealth. To help navigate this transition, this series will offer critical information and proactive strategies to protect local coverage and care.

The Brockton MassHealth Panel Series is hosted by the City of Brockton’s Health and Human Services Department in partnership with MassHealth, the Massachusetts Health Connector, Health Care for All (HCFA), the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR), the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance, the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute (MLRI), the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, and Boston Medical Center.

The purpose and goals of the Panel Series are to:

1. Provide detailed information or an overview (depending on the partner) of the Medicaid/MassHealth changes starting in January 2027.
2. Discuss how these MassHealth changes will directly impact the partner organization, members of the partner organization, and the patients they serve, especially as it relates to Brockton.
3. Provide recommendations and resources that will help prepare MassHealth recipients for these changes including discussing innovations to the Medicaid/MassHealth redetermination process.

Panel Information

Each session of this series will build on previous sessions. A panel led by MassHealth representatives will start the series, going into detail about new requirements and advancements in MassHealth's redetermination process. The order for the Series is as follows:

1. September 17: MassHealth
   Moderator: Tina Cardoso, Executive Director Cape Verdean Women United (CVWU)
2. September 24: The Massachusetts Health Connector
   Moderator: Mataina Michel, DCF/SBA/Energy Manager Cape Verdean Association
3. October 1: Health Care for All
   Moderator: Isabel Lopez, CEO and Founder Brockton Workers Alliance
4. October 8: Immigrant Populations: Massachusetts Law Reform Institute
   Moderator: Marline Amedee, President & CEO of Haitian Community Partners
5. October 15: Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Unhoused, and Justice-Involved Populations: Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery and Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance
   Moderator: Allyson Pinkhover, Director of Substance Use Services Brockton Neighborhood Health Center
6. October 22: Collaboration with Brockton High School Town Hall Healthcare Providers: Michael Curry from the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and Robert Koenig from Boston Medical Center
   Moderator: Maria Celli, CEO Brockton Neighborhood Health Center

The series will be made available on multiple platforms.

• Every panel session will broadcast live via Brockton Community Access and livestreamed on YouTube.
• These sessions will also be livestreamed on the City of Brockton's Facebook page.
• All sessions will be recorded and shared via the City of Brockton’s website.
• All sessions will be open to the public.

Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, and Spanish Interpretation services will be available for each session.
